A measure of excellence in industrial vacuum pumps
Leybold SCREWLINE SP dry compressing screw vacuum pumps are extremely robust with the internally cooled rotors, and a special cantilevered bearing arrangement that eliminates failure. These industrial dry vacuum pumps are designed to meet the special requirements of heavy duty applications with direct pumping path and two non-contacting shaft-seals that are practically wear-free. This also allows for longer maintenance intervals.
Based on the screw principle, the standard versions of the SCREWLINE pumps are air-cooled from the outside for industrial applications. Water-cooled versions are available to operate in air-conditioned rooms as well as ATEX-certified variants are available for explosion proof compliance.
SCREWLINE SP features & benefits
SCREWLINE SP has a direct pumping path without multiple deflections for the process gas making it highly tolerant to process contamination as well as reduced buildup inside the pump chamber. This ensures lower maintenance and a high uptime in industrial processes.
The two non-contacting shaft-seals are practically wear-free, which allows for very long maintenance intervals. Shaft seal purge is usually required in industrial applications. SCREWLINE SP pumps are equipped with a purge gas supply unit as a standard.
The special cantilevered bearing arrangement eliminates a potential source of bearing failure as well as lubrication contamination into pumping chamber.
The cantilevered bearing arrangement also makes the pump chamber easily accessible. This innovative design feature allows the removal of the pump housing quickly and cost effectively making on-site cleaning of all surfaces in contact with the medium possible. This is a significant advantage for processes that involve a considerable amount of contaminants to deliver high uptime.
The low exhaust temperature is an important feature of the SCREWLINE SP vacuum pumps. Owing to the design of the screw rotors, a temperature of maximum 100 °C (212 °F) is attained inside the pump. Thus, buildup is avoided in the pump chamber which may react at high temperatures. This makes the SCREWLINE SP pump reliable in applications such as solar module lamination and furnace applications. Should deposits form, then the easy to disassemble housing facilitates rapid cleaning.
SCREWLINE SP’s special design feature with internally cooled rotors reduces layer build up and allows for Argon pumping at any pressure for longer duration. Besides the integrated oil cooling arrangement for the rotors, the Screw Vacuum Pumps are air-cooled from the outside. Here rotor and housings are thermally linked via the oil cooler. Thus, screw vacuum pumps adapt themselves ideally to the ambient conditions under changing operating situations.
A water-cooled version is offered as Screw Vacuum Pumps SP 630 F for operation in air-conditioned rooms. Standard SCREWLINE SP dry vacuum pumps are available as water-cooled variants for operation in air-conditioned facilities. SCREWLINE SP O2 variants are capable of pumping 100% oxygen. ATEX certified variants for zone 2 and 3 application comply with the requirements of the European Directive and are suited for use in potentially explosive atmospheres ATEX guideline requirements (ATEX 2014/34/EU). As standard, all SCREWLINE SP ATEX pumps are equipped with a barrier gas control unit.
