Glass Capsule SPRT Fluke 5686-B Cryogenic Temperature Standard
Description
The Glass Capsule SPRT Fluke 5686-B Cryogenic Temperature Standard is a primary ITS-90 reference instrument designed for precision calibration and cryogenic metrology. Covering an ultra-broad range from -260 °C to 232 °C (13 K to 505 K), the Fluke 5686-B features a 25.5 Ohm nominal RTPW sensor constructed from high-purity platinum wire hand-wound strain-free on a fused silica cross frame. Sealed within a compact glass capsule measuring 5.8 mm in diameter and pressurized with pure helium, it permits complete immersion to eliminate thermal stem conduction and ensure annual drift rates below 0.005 °C.
Application Scope
Engineered for primary metrology laboratories, research institutes, and calibration facilities:
- Performing ITS-90 interpolation standard measurements in cryogenic liquid helium, nitrogen, and argon baths
- Executing high-accuracy calorimetry, thermal physics research, and space environment simulation testing
- Serving as a primary calibration standard where space constraints prevent the use of long-stem SPRTs
